Who and What is the ADIL?The purpose of the Astronomy Digital Image Library (ADIL) is to collect astronomical, research-quality images and make them available to the astronomical community and the general public. Patrons access the Library through the World Wide Web to search for and browse images. Once images are located in the Library, users may download them to their local machines in FITS format for further analysis. The Library provides a number of benefits not only to those looking for images, but also to those who add images to the Library's growing collection. For more on what the ADIL is all about, check the introduction to the ADIL User's Guide. The Library is being developed and maintained by the Radio Astronomy Imaging Group at the National Center for Supercomputing Application (NCSA) on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Questions? Comments? Please contact us! Send email to adil@ncsa.uiuc.eduYour feedback is greatly appreciated. Attention Web Surfers!Ever wondered how radio telescopes produce images like the many found in this Library? Check out Whispers From the Cosmos, a new on-line Science Expo developed at NCSA. This multi-media exhibit will give you a tour of the BIMA Millimeter Array and the science this telescope is tackling. Also, don't forget about Star Search, a multimedia article about the ADIL in NCSA's Access, an electronic magazine.
